OUR STORY

Our journey with British Shorthairs began with a simple desire: to find friendly cats that could confidently stay home alone while I went to work. I wanted companions that would not only love my friends and family but also bring a unique and adorable charm to our lives. When I discovered British Shorthairs, I was immediately drawn to their plush, soft coats and sweet temperaments.

Determined to bring these wonderful cats into my home, I imported two British Shorthairs. They really seemed too good to be true! When my family and friends met my new cats, they wanted to take them home! Their sweet-natured temperament, combined with their looks made them the perfect choice for me. 

 

I dove into researching everything about responsible breeding. I talked to experienced breeders, researched health testing, and learned what seemed like endless amounts of information about cat breeding (did you know cats can have incompatible blood types?!). I was discouraged to see that most British Shorthair breeders were not completing health testing. I knew I wanted to spread the joy of these amazing breed-- the right way. That's why we FIV/FeLV, echocardiogram, and genetically test all of our breeding cats. This dedication to doing things right led to the creation of Bonbelle. Here, we focus on raising healthy, happy kittens that capture the essence of the British Shorthair breed, spreading that same joy I felt when I got my first two kitties.
